Former Plum TV Star to Anchor Travelistic's First Original, Web-Only Travel Show
Liza de Guia to Host 'The Map,' a Weekly Show Devoted to the Travel Experience
NEW YORK, Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Travelistic, the travel site that lets virtual travelers explore the world through video, is launching its first original program, "The Map," a globetrotting weekly show devoted to the travel experience (http://www.travelistic.com/). Hosted by former Plum TV star Liza de Guia, "The Map" incorporates topical reporting with commentary on videos from Travelistic's users, its licensed programs such as "Get Out! Girls" and "The Thirsty Traveler," and the best travel videos from across the Web. "The Map" also marks the first time Travelistic is offering content in a video podcast format. The feed can be accessed at http://www.travelistic.com/user/TheMap.
"The Map" is produced by Travelistic's Senior Producer, Chris Bernier, former editor of IGN Movies. The New York-based show will be shooting on location once a month, beginning with the U.S. Virgin Islands in December and The Consumer Electronics Show (CES), in Las Vegas, in January.
"I'm excited to be hosting Travelistic's first-ever original travel program," said Liza de Guia. "Expanding my focus from the Hamptons to the world's travel destinations is a dream come true. 'The Map' is covering stories from locales all over the world, cluing our audience into trends, information and humorous stories that they need to know."
While at Plum TV's flagship station in the Hamptons, Ms. de Guia produced, reported, edited and hosted entertainment, sports, human-interest and lifestyle programming. Prior to Plum TV, Ms. de Guia worked at ABC television in New York City. She is a graduate of Georgetown University, and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
"'The Map' is the first of several original programs we have slated for Travelistic and other Diversion Media properties over the coming year," said Nicholas Butterworth, Founder and CEO. "In Liza, we are very fortunate to have found someone of great talent and expertise to entertain a worldwide online audience of passionate travelers."
Travelistic offers a rich combination of user-generated video, broadcast quality TV video and original, online-only programming-much of which has never been seen before in the U.S. or online. The site has been adding 20 new destinations and more than 100 new videos each week-including video from more than 120 Boards of Tourism -- and is currently in discussions with many of the top travel and hospitality properties to bring their videos to the site.
