Comcast Spreads Holiday Cheer ON DEMAND With Exclusive Holiday Troop Greetings
Greetings Bring Familiar Faces of Loved Ones to Oregon and SW Washington Customers Throughout the Holiday Season
BEAVERTON, Ore., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Just in time for the holiday season, Comcast is delivering a gift to families and friends of service people from Oregon and SW Washington: Holiday Troop Greetings ON DEMAND. The greetings include fifty 15-second video messages from local men and women serving in far away posts. Troop Greetings can be found under the "Local Programming" -- then "CNW14" option of the ON DEMAND menu through January 2007. The greetings are provided to Comcast Digital Cable customers at no additional cost.
In order to offer Troop Greetings ON DEMAND, Comcast partnered with the Army/Air Force Hometown News Service to obtain video messages from service men and women stationed around the world. Fifty greetings are offered in a half hour program format from Oregon and SW Washington military personnel and civilian staff currently stationed at bases in Iraq, Alaska, Central Asia, Azores, England, Germany, Guam, Italy, Japan, Korea, Kosovo, Qatar and Turkey.
"ON DEMAND makes it possible for our customers to watch a personal greeting over and over -- on their schedule, at no charge," said Curt Henninger, SVP and General Manager at Comcast of Oregon and SW Washington.
Troop Greetings ON DEMAND is being provided as a public service to Comcast customers, utilizing the power of ON DEMAND's ability to offer locally-focused programming. Comcast has been participating in the program in other parts of the country since 2003.
Customers with basic cable service can also watch the Troop Greetings at scheduled times on Comcast's CNW14, including: 12/21 at 6 p.m., 12/23 at 10 a.m., 12/23 at 6 p.m., 12/27 at 8:30 p.m., 12/28 at 6 p.m., 12/30 at 10 a.m.
ON DEMAND gives viewers the ability to access movies and programming 24- hours a day with complete DVD functionality, without leaving their homes. ON DEMAND is available to Comcast Digital Cable customers and currently includes more than 7,500 programs in distinct genres including movies, news, cable favorites, local programming, sports, lifestyle, kids and music videos. Most ON DEMAND content is available at no additional charge.
