YA Entertainment to Release 'Palace' on DVD

Korea's 2006 Top-Rated TV Drama Debuts in U.S. on November 21st

SAN BRUNO, Calif., Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- YA Entertainment LLC, a home entertainment company and exclusive licensee and publisher of popular Korean TV drama programming on DVD with English subtitles in North America, today announced the November 21st release date of its newest Korean TV drama, "Palace."

South Korea's most talked about TV drama of 2006, "Palace," also known as "Princess Hours," will be sold at major book and DVD retailers in American cities including Chicago, Dallas, Honolulu, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, St. Paul, and Washington D.C. The popular 24-episode Korean TV series will be available in North America for the first time ever on Region 1 DVD format with English subtitles.

Variety describes "Palace" as the "Future of the Korean TV drama industry." "Palace," based on a popular comic book series, fancifully re-imagines present-day Korea as a constitutional monarchy with a royal family. A beautiful palace, sitting in the heart of modern-day Seoul, becomes the home to a group of young royals pulled into the political rivalries, comical hijinks, and romantic entanglements of palace life. Receiving nearly 30% ratings during its original broadcast, "Palace" enjoyed a cross-generational appeal in South Korea.

Today, over 25 million American households have access to popular Korean TV dramas through cable and local TV channels. Americans are increasingly drawn to the 'Korean Wave' trend (the global demand for South Korean movies and TV dramas in markets as diverse as China, Japan, Mexico and Egypt). According to a recent survey of over 800 respondents conducted by YA Entertainment, over 79% of fans are American women who are not of Korean descent.

Tom Larsen, President of YA Entertainment added, "We are honored to be a pioneer in bringing these highly popular Korean TV dramas to North America. I believe 'Palace' will be a huge hit and captivate a mainstream American audience and enthusiasts of international entertainment programming."
