Think You Know Movies? Then Try To 'Beat The Detective'

-- Videodetective.com Now Offers Free Online Movie Trailer Game --

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Videodetective.com has just launched a new free online game for film buffs to test their movie knowledge called "Beat the Detective." This new and novel game pits 'would be movie sleuths' against Video Detective's vast database of 20,000 streaming trailers to measure just how many movies they can identify in the shortest time.

This is not a game for the faint of heart. Game players have just 15 seconds to identify each trailer clip from the genre they select. The quicker a player matches a clip with the correct title, the higher their score. They get four trailers per "hand" with a "round" consisting of three hands. Players are rated each round from worst to best scores as a Wet-Nosed Rookie, Hard-Boiled Gumshoe, Caper King or a Master Sleuth.

Over the game's debut weekend, some 2500 people tried to 'Beat the Detective'. While they all had fun, only a few even came close. The maximum points that can be achieved per round are 300 and high scores are logged by day and by week. So far the highest scores are only in the 280s. Think you can do better? Try it. It's free. Just go to VideoDetective.com and click on BEAT THE DETECTIVE GAME at the top of the page.

"Beat The Detective" is a great way to remember movies you know and to be introduced to many you never heard of before. In one hand of comedy, a player might get such diverse titles as The Blues Brothers, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Duck Soup and Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death. For the serious types playing drama, a hand might include titles such as the new Marie Antoinette, The 400 Blows, White Nights and Die Mommie Die! Other categories include Action/Adventure, Horror, Sci-Fi, Western and Family. Play by actors, directors and eras will be added in the coming weeks.

About Videodetective.com: Online with the most streaming movie trailers on the web since 1999, Videodetective.com has become a monthly destination for over 1 million U.S. users. It offers users exclusive movie previews, contests and release calendars for free.
