Statement by Dr. Ted Baehr on Resignation of Rev. Ted Haggard Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006

"While the news about Rev. Haggard is sad, it is a good thing that he is submitting to church authority with his resignation. If any of the charges are proven true, but the Rev. Haggard repents, then he should be disciplined, but also shown compassion and forgiveness.

"The problem with the church today is that it too often has been preaching a watered-down theology and a gooey, New Age definition of love. Love without Justice, Truth, Mercy, Grace, and Righteousness is not True Love. Conversely, Judgment without Justice, Truth, Mercy, Grace, and Righteousness is not True Judgment."
