Palms Casino Resort Unveils Plans for State-of-the-Art Concert Theater The Pearl
Construction Progressing as Venue Prepares for Spring 2007 Grand Opening
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuously raising the bar on Las Vegas nightlife, The Palms Casino Resort unveiled plans for a multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art concert theater yesterday. Aptly named The Pearl, the one-of-a-kind venue currently under construction is expected to be the most fantastic concert venue of its size in the country, if not the world.

No stone was left unturned as the development team carefully crafted each aspect of the concert theater to make certain everyone from production, the artists themselves and the band members, to the audience and employees working the venue, had all the tools needed to experience a live music event unlike any other.
The intimate venue is designed to be a true modern marvel of technology and innovation beginning with seating design. The Pearl comfortably tucks into its intimate setting all of the high-end amenities you would find in larger venues. With special scalable curtains, The Pearl's capacity can easily adjust to accommodate from 1,100 to 2,400 guests. In addition, the floor will allow for seated concert viewing or general admission standing room audiences. With no seating obstructions, the farthest seat from the stage will be a mere 120 feet away, allowing performers to personally connect with the entire audience. Two 14-foot by 16-foot video screens will be located on each side of the stage for close up looks at the on-stage action with additional plasma screens located throughout the concourse areas.
The Pearl has three levels of seating with beverage stations and restroom facilities located on each level. The state-of-the-art venue features 18 private and semi-private sky boxes with exclusive bars and restrooms and many including personal lounges, ensuring the ultimate in luxury concert viewing.
One of the most amazing factors of The Pearl comes in the form of design relevance to other amenities at The Palms. The new concert facility will be hard wired to The Studio at The Palms, allowing artists to create a cost-effective live album with efficiency and without additional venue set-up. The Killers, Elton John, Celine Dion and Timbaland are among some of the esteemed artists already comfortable recording in The Studio at The Palms. The Pearl will become the place for artists to record live albums, allowing the Las Vegas community to be a part of the action. Additionally the facility is designed to host live television programs, sporting events and award shows.
"At The Palms we continue to challenge ourselves in order to provide incredible experiences for all of our customers. The timing of The Pearl is right in line with the movement of The Palms -- we are able to reflect upon the amazing things that happened over the past five years and expand on the great venues before us to develop something extremely unique and exciting," said owner George Maloof.
Technically, The Pearl will be a true state-of-the-art facility possessing complete lighting and video systems, and high-tech sound systems designed by SIA Acoustics, creating quality sound for each performance. Concert ticket holders will feel the power from 60 JBL Vertec series loudspeakers pumping sound throughout the venue.
For production quality, Digidesign Venue series digital mixing consoles allow for complete flexibility when dealing with multiple artists, featuring 96 channel capacity, scene recall and automation. Complete lighting systems will include ETC Dimming, ETC conventional fixtures and Reel EFX Hazers -- all controlled by a grand MA lighting desk. The lighting system is by PRG and the theatrical lighting design is by concert extraordinaire Michael Keller who has set the stage for artists including Aerosmith, Michael Jackson and Ozzy Osbourne along with many others.
Back of house amenities are just as impressive as the venue itself, featuring four dressing rooms; Wi-Fi technology throughout the backstage area; a green room; production offices; pre- and post-show event facilities perfect for parties, artist meet and greets and other special activities; private access to an outside entry, as well as entrance ways from The Studio at The Palms and the Fantasy Tower. Backstage boasts a separate disconnect for satellite and television production trucks as well as a two truck loading dock for easy movement of equipment.
The Pearl will be the country's leading intimate concert theater and will provide the ultimate concert experience for all genres of music. For more information, visit www.palms.com.
