Orion Cable GmbH has Closed the Acquisition of the Tele Columbus Group

AUGSBURG, Germany, November 2/PRNewswire/ -- Orion Cable GmbH, owner of cable operator ewt (ewt multimedia
GmbH), Augsburg, today announced the closing of its acquisition of the Tele
Columbus group.

Not included are the former regional companies of Tele
Columbus in Baden-Wuerttemberg and the Tele Columbus West GmbH & CO. KG,
which have already been transferred to Kabel Baden-Wuerttemberg and ish.

In the course of the acquisition, the former managing directors of the
Tele Columbus group, Dr. Herbert Leifker and Mr. Parm Sandhu, have stepped
down from their duties and will continue to serve Unity Media, the former
parent company of the Tele Columbus group. The management functions of both
of them have been taken over with immediate effect by Orion's managing
director Robert Fowler.

The successful closing of the acquisition creates the largest
cable system operator of the network level 4 in Germany, particularly in the
regions around Berlin, Hanover, Hamburg and southeastern Germany. The
combined businesses now have an even more attractive product portfolio for
the customers. "We are going to position ourselves as the largest provider
for TV, broadband internet and telecommunication services in the market of
level 4 and will now be in the position to capture the growth potential in
the market," commented Robert Fowler.
