Liberty Elementary School first grade teacher, Abbie Silverman, and her mother, recently participated in a taping of the "Oprah" show. Abbie had submitted an essay for Oprah's recurring "Acts of Kindness" segment that was accepted by the popular daytime host. During the segment, Oprah gives $1,000 to each audience member to donate to a charity of their choosing within one week of the air date (October 30). Abbie and her mom donated their money to Liberty Elementary School. Joel Segal, owner of Littles Shoes, learned of the donation and matched the $2,000 with an additional $2,000. He also brought in Merrell Shoes to donate a pair of shoes to each student, tomorrow at the school. Together, Liberty Elementary, Littles Shoes and Merrell are hosting the walkathon to raise awareness and funds for the school.
