MusicGremlin Wi-Fi Music Player Gains New Enhancements

MusicGremlin Wi-Fi Music Player Gains New Enhancements

Free Over-the-Air Software Upgrade Adds New Features and Improvements to MusicGremlin's Innovative 'Gremlin' Portable Device

NEW YORK, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- MusicGremlin, Inc. announced today that it is providing an automatic over-the-air software upgrade to its current installed base of Gremlin device users, offering a number of new features, product improvements, and optimizations. The new software will be provided free of charge to all existing Gremlin owners and will be pre-installed on all future device shipments.

The new software adds a number of key features to Gremlin players:

-- Enhanced wireless connectivity, including integrated WPA and WPA2
security support for Wi-Fi connections
-- Improved music player functionality, including an equalizer function
with 11 preset options, and an "instant shuffle" option that permits
users to easily shuffle material from their entire collection, or from
one artist, album or playlist
-- "Artist Alert" messages, delivered to users' Gremlin device screens (in
addition to their e-mail) whenever their favorite artists release new
material
-- New PC functions to wirelessly control the device through the Web,
including allowing users to remotely add or remove "Gremlist" music
programming channels from their device by accessing their
accounts from the Web at http://www.musicgremlin.com/ , on their PCs
-- A number of other device enhancements and optimizations, including an
optional Power Save Mode for Wi-Fi

A more detailed description of the software release is available from the company's Website.

Using the power of the Gremlin's most compelling feature, its wireless connectivity, MusicGremlin is able to send enhancements and upgrades directly to all user devices. Existing Gremlin device users do not need to take any action to receive the update, other than turning the player on in range of an available Wi-Fi network. The software will load and update -- without requiring a PC.

"We are excited to provide this first over-the-air software upgrade for our users, responding to a number of feature requests we have received from users since our launch," said Douglas Kraul, Senior Vice President, Product Development, MusicGremlin. "The same technology that makes the software update experience effortless for users also makes the content acquisition easy and fun."

MusicGremlin pioneered the Wi-Fi connected music service/player with its introduction of the Gremlin and the MusicGremlin service this past summer. The company's patent-pending direct-to-device distribution technology and platform enable users to download content wirelessly to obtain tracks either a la carte or via subscription. Gremlin users can also connect to each other wirelessly to browse each other's libraries. Subscription users can send music to each other's players, wirelessly and legally, whether they are in the same room or in different locations, by connecting through Wi-Fi to the Internet. As a connected device, MusicGremlin can continue to update the capabilities and services provided on the player without requiring its users to purchase new hardware.

In addition to availability at http://www.musicgremlin.com/ , the Gremlin MG-1000 device is on sale now at Amazon.com, J&R, and other select retailers.
