The Murphy Boyz Entertainment Group Announce Funding Deal With Esu Funding Line Up of New Projects In 2007

NEW YORK, Nov. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The Murphy Boyz Entertainment Group (MBE) announced today a financing deal with Raaw Publishing & Television Productions and Esu Funding for several upcoming film and television projects. Murphy Boyz Entertainment Group is headed by Ray Murphy Jr., and Bill Murphy who will serve as producers on all projects. The 3-picture deal with Esu Funding positions MBE as an emergent production company for future significant urban films. Incorporated in the wide-sweeping deal Murphy Boyz and Esu Funding will also include future apparel, merchandise, video games, music and soundtrack ventures together.

Ray recently reunited with childhood friend Bill Murphy to form The Murphy Boyz Entertainment Group to select, produce and distribute African-American themed entertainment products. With over 25 years of combined experience, Ray and Bill plan to take the company to the next level by creating relevant and positive outlets in the African-American film arena.

"We are excited about this new endeavor and dedicated to creating diverse images of how Black, Asian and Latino communities are viewed," said Ray Murphy Jr.

The first project on tap for MBE is "Urban Ice," a family-oriented film centered on the unique world of ice hockey. The inspiring story tells the tale of a group of diverse kids from Harlem, who end up on a journey of self- discovery and triumph, as they learn winning doesn't always mean victory in a game. The story, a cross between "Cool Runnings" and "The Bad News Bears," was written by Chris Niespodzianski and John Niespodzianski. Stephan Dweck is also on board to produce. Pre-production is slated for January 2007.

Esu Funding is a film financing group that was started by CEO James L. Scott. Designed for the filmmaking community, Esu Funding provides producers and directors a partnership to produce quality and profitable projects. "Esu Funding is more than just a funding group," explained Ray Murphy Jr. "They're not just lending money to a project ... they truly believe and share our vision for MBE and we absolutely have high expectations and look forward to a long and productive relationship."

Other MBE projects include "The Big Black Comedy Show Vols. 1-8," a special comedy series to air on Showtime Networks starting January 2007; "The Big Black Comedy Show" road-show tentatively scheduled to tour nationally in late February and two more feature films, "Heist Society," and "Angel Starr."
