Telegent Systems Rolls Out Mobile TV Solutions Globally

Telegent Systems Rolls Out Mobile TV Solutions Globally

Technology Enables Mobile TV Now With Ultra-Low Power, Improved Performance and Enhanced Viewing Experiences

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Telegent Systems, Inc., a leader in advanced RF and digital signal processing technologies for Mobile TV in cellular phones and other portable media devices, today announces the production shipment of its first generation TV receiver (TLG1100) and introduces an advanced, high performance TV-on-Chip solution (TLG1130). The shipment of the first generation solution will enable handset manufacturers and carriers to introduce new products with mobile TV before the holiday season.

Telegent Systems' first products, the TLG1100 and TLG1130, integrate all major Mobile TV receiver functionalities from antenna input to digital video output. Currently, TLG1100 supports NTSC and PAL, while TLG1130 supports DVB-H, DVB-T, NTSC and PAL. The hybrid TLG1130 solution enables the reception of both existing and new mobile broadcasts on any mobile device. This elevates the Mobile TV experience by giving consumers the ability to watch their favorite network programs, as well as supporting emerging made-for-mobile content.

"Telegent Systems represents a breakthrough opportunity for handset makers, carriers, and broadcasters," stated Reed Hundt, former chairman of the FCC and a member of the board of directors for Telegent Systems. "Finally, there is a technology that merges the ease of watching broadcast television with the convenience of carrying cell phones in our hands."

By combining its expertise in RF, mixed-signal, and DSP technologies, Telegent Systems has developed the patent-pending SureTrak(TM) technology that provides superior video reception, increased sensitivity, support of legacy and new broadcast standards, low power consumption and ease of design in for mobile devices.

SureTrak technology vastly reduces the power consumption, and allows up to 4.5 hours of viewing time on cell phones. Through its Multipath and Doppler compensation algorithm, SureTrak preserves the video quality in a mobile environment, and has been proven to be robust at speeds in excess of 430km per hour (265 miles per hour), while maintaining audio fidelity. By integrating most of the functionalities into a single chip, the company's solution substantially reduces the component count and simplifies the design-in efforts by handset makers.

"We are excited to provide the most sensitive and robust receivers on the market," said Weijie Yun, CEO and president of Telegent Systems. "The additional performance advantage will enable consumers to enjoy their Mobile TV viewing experience in all mobile environments."

The company also provides complete system solutions from antenna design and recommendations, RF design considerations to complete reference design kits. Telegent Systems intends to further support the expected growth of Mobile TV by integrating its technology into automobiles, laptops, and other mobile devices.
