Sundance Channel Hires SCOUT PRODUCTIONS to Create 13-Part Series for Sundance Channel GREEN Block

NEW YORK, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Laura Michalchyshyn, Sundance Channel EVP and GM Programming and Creative Affairs announced today that SCOUT PRODUCTIONS has been hired to create and produce a 13-part series that will feature the innovators and innovations on the cutting edge of the environmental revolution. The series will anchor Sundance Channel GREEN, a weekly primetime destination focusing on environmental topics that is due to launch in early 2007.

"SCOUT has a proven track record of producing very entertaining television programs as well as tackling serious topics," said Michalchyshyn. "We are confident that they will create for Sundance Channel, an upbeat, inspirational series about all the new and fascinating environmental initiatives."

Tentatively titled "Change Agents," this high energy, character-driven documentary series presents the innovative designers, products and processes that are on the front lines of a new green world. From the ingenious to the crazy, the practical to the incredible, the series tells the stories of people who are blazing a trail to a sustainable future, and their emerging inventions that will eventually redefine how we go about our daily lives.

Each episode revolves around a different green theme with a specific innovator or innovation that has the potential to transform our everyday lives. The innovators range from scientists to fashion designers, entrepreneurs to first-time inventors. The series also features a cast of recurring expert commentators, including activists, scientists, writers, and environmental personalities who provide the big-picture context to each week's stories.

"Change Agents" will offer practical tips for living a greener life in each of the 13 episodes and more information including solutions and resources will be featured on a mini-site on sundancechannel.com.

A film, television and new media production company, SCOUT has most recently produced the Emmy Awards winning television series "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" (NBC/Bravo) and "How To Get The Guy" (ABC). Their current films include the Academy Award winning documentary by Errol Morris, The Fog of War and the upcoming Brad Anderson feature TransSiberian. David Metzler and Michael Williams will executive produce for SCOUT. Metzler, along with Williams and creator David Collins have executive produced "Queer Eye" since its premiere in 2005 for which the team won an Emmy. Williams won the Academy Award that same year for producing The Fog of War.

"Change Agents" will be overseen for Sundance Channel by Senior Vice President, Original Programming and Development Lynne Kirby and Director, Original Programming and Development Sam Paul.

In addition to this original series, the three-hour Sundance Channel GREEN block will include documentary film premieres and accessible interstitial pieces about the earth's ecology, concepts of green living that balance human needs with environmental stewardship, and pieces on celebrity activists and environmental advocates. The destination is designed to be both informative and entertaining, with an emphasis on information, practical advice and community building.

With Sundance Channel GREEN, Sundance Channel becomes the first television network in the United States to establish a significant, regularly-scheduled programming destination dedicated entirely to the environment.

Fiercely committed to empowering creativity with production expertise, SCOUT has evolved from a small film and television production company into a dynamic collective of media pioneers who are building a global media brand. Under the leadership of founders and principals David Collins and Michael Williams, the company creates content with heart, soul and vision. These productions, whether film, television or new media, are the foundation and the core of SCOUT. The company's decision-making process is straightforward -- SCOUT is committed to producing "important stories, well told." www.scoutvision.com
