Underground Hip-Hop Has a New Online Champion, as D2Dbo Grabs the Spitcam III Title
Following a Heated Battle, D2Dbo Grabs the Third Spot in the Spitcam Hall of Fame and the $1,000 Cash Prize
Spitcam Opens Call for Entries for 'Spitcam Mixtape'
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Spit flew and beefs were freely exchanged at Spitcam.com, the premier video battle rap competition, as Debo Olaosebikan, a.k.a. D2Dbo http://d2dbo.livedigital.com/ emerged victorious from the final round of Spitcam III, following a closely watched contest with a razor-thin margin of victory. A long time competitor and Spitcam fan favorite notorious for complex wordplay and brutal hooks, D2Dbo earned the victory and $1,000 after going head-to-head with long-time battle rapper and Spitcam veteran Dmoe Vocal Swords http://dmoevocalswords.livedigital.com/.
"Spitcam is a great networking tool as it forms a society of rappers, producers and critics, and makes otherwise impossible interactions possible by a simple Internet connection," said D2Dbo. "I have seen rappers get better and more polished on the website as a result of seeing what other rappers are about. The prize money is icing on the cake. What Spitcam is doing for upcoming rappers is priceless."
"D2Dbo is a lyrical monster, and his victory is well-deserved," said Spitcam host Jin the Emcee. "Both D2Dbo and Dmoe demonstrated amazing skill and delivery in the final battle -- Spitcam wouldn't be the Internet's top freestyle site without the incredible talents of people like our two finalists."
As more rappers continue to flock to Spitcam and upload their original music, Jin and LiveDigital are set to roll out a new way for aspiring hip-hop artists to make their voices heard -- Spitcam Mixtape. On October 23, 2006, Spitcam will put out the open call for artists to submit their original tracks to be included on the official Spitcam Mixtape. LiveDigital members will have the chance to vote the tracks "dope" or "wack", and the top 14 tracks will find a home on Volume 1 of Spitcam Mixtape, which will have thousands of copies distributed in December.
"This has been one of the most exciting rounds of Spitcam yet -- artists have not only been beefing and battling each other online, they have also been collaborating and creating sounds and styles that are truly groundbreaking," added Jin. "Spitcam Mixtape is a natural extension of this phenomenon; we want to provide all Spitcammers the opportunity to get their music out there and be heard."
"The underground hip-hop community is one of the most creative and prolific on the Internet, and we are proud to give them the tools and the means to connect, collaborate and create music together," said LiveDigital CEO Lawrence Ng. "Spitcam and Spitcam Mixtape are our way of giving very talented people more resources to express themselves and broadcast their original music to the world."
