Fifty-Seven Percent of Hiring Managers Say They Have Caught a Lie on a Resume, CareerBuilder.com Survey Finds

Think twice before giving yourself a "promotion" on your resume: Although just 5 percent of workers admit to fibbing on their resumes, 57 percent of hiring managers say they have caught a lie on a candidate's application, according to a new survey called "Resume Lies" by CareerBuilder.com. Of those hiring managers who caught a lie, 93 percent did not hire the candidate. Many hiring managers have no tolerance for resume lies. Forty-three percent of hiring managers say they would automatically dismiss a candidate who fibbed on their resume. Others say it depends on the candidate and situation.

Americans Unaware of Flu Risks and Most Not Planning to Be Vaccinated, Kiwanis Survey Finds

Despite warnings from health officials, many Americans are still not aware of the flu as a potentially life-threatening disease, according to a recent survey by Kiwanis International. Nearly half of the one thousand fifty two Americans polled in the survey do not think the flu is dangerous, and the majority of them are not planning to be vaccinated. Of those not seeking a flu shot, the most popular reason is that they do not want to get sick from the shot -- a common myth that health and service organizations aim to discredit.
