Poll Shows Overwhelming Majority of Americans Expect to Pay More to Heat Their Homes This Winter
Most Americans, 77 percent expect to pay more to heat their homes this winter compared to last year, according to a recent national telephone survey conducted by the Vent-Free Gas Products Alliance. The Alliance is a coalition of members of the Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association a national trade association of equipment and controls manufacturers. Although experts say that natural gas costs may be lower this year, one- third of consumers interviewed expect to pay at least 20 percent more in home heating fuel costs when the weather cools down. In fact, some people actually expect their heating bills to increase by 70 percent or more.
