Committed to Music Download Freedom of Choice, Poised to Lead Indies Music Scene

NEW YORK, Oct. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- PayPlay.FM, a division of PayPlay LLC, unveiled Tuesday its plans to offer unprotected MP3s of its 600,000 track collection at the cost of 88 cents per track. The media technology company provides digital rights protection of media files for independent artists, and their announcement was timed to coincide with "Day Against DRM" and is fueled by PayPlay's strategy to provide uniform support of Mac, UNIX, and portable players incompatible with Windows Media DRM (including Apple's iPod), offering customers the ultimate in flexibility. To celebrate the announcement, PayPlay is offering free music downloads for new users who register on October 3rd.

"In our opinion, the anti-DRM movement is not about making the music free or eliminating DRM, but about giving customers the freedom of choice. DRM solutions provide protection to sellers and artists, so we feel that our approach of offering incentives for DRM, while still offering unprotected MP3s is superior," said Elliot Goykhman, PayPlay CEO. "Introduction of this feature will be a direct result of our company's commitment to continuously improve our service according to market demands, and make it easy to buy music."

Currently PayPlay's DRM protected tracks are priced at a competitive 77 cents each and deliver high quality 192kpbs VBR sound -- far superior to the 128kbps bit rate of iTunes and other similar online music download stores. With introduction of industry's lowest priced 88-cent 192kpbs MP3 unrestricted downloads PayPlay is poised to become the leader in independent artists music sales.

This news comes on the heels of two recently added services - PayPlay Accounts, a website personalization and payment wallet, and PayPlay Widget, a marketing and promotion tool that allows artists to sell their music through MySpace, artist websites and blogs.

PayPlay was founded in 2004 by Alexander Aghassipour, Henrik Werdelin and Elliot Goykhman. With over 30 years of combined Internet and music industry experience, the partners shared a frustration over the current state-of-the art for monetizing digital media, and set off to create a best practice licensing platform for independent content producers.

PayPlay.FM, the online music download store, was launched in the summer of 2006. PayPlay.TV, an online video download store featuring music videos, short films, movie trailers, TV shows and more, is scheduled to debut early 2007.
