EMI America Records to Release Steve Irwin Memorial Service in Limited Edition DVD Package

EMI America Records to Release Steve Irwin Memorial Service in Limited Edition DVD Package

Global Release by EMI Music to Benefit Irwin's 'Wildlife Warriors' Fund

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- On September 29, plans were announced at Australia Zoo for EMI Music's worldwide release of a special, limited edition DVD featuring Steve Irwin's moving memorial tribute service, "He Changed Our World." The DVD, to be released domestically by EMI America Records, will be available by November 14 at major retailers across the United States. Royalties generated by the DVD will go to Irwin's Wildlife Warriors fund to help carry on his critical work with endangered species, habitat protection and running his Australian wildlife hospital.

The worldwide public response to the touching tribute to Steve Irwin's life at Australia Zoo's Crocoseum has been overwhelming, prompting the rushed release of the memorial service on DVD. In addition to Irwin's memorial service, this limited edition DVD will include rare interview footage with Irwin and his family on matters close to their hearts.

Irwin's producer and manager John Stainton said, "We have been overwhelmed by the reaction to the television broadcast which seems to have captured the love and emotion that filled the 5,000 seat Crocoseum. I know Steve would have been proud of the service I put together for him and I am sure he would be even more honored to know that his loyal supporters will be able to have their own memory to keep. Everyone who took part in the ceremony has given permission to be included in the DVD as their contribution to Steve's Wildlife Warriors."

John O'Donnell, Managing Director of EMI Music Australia said, "Releasing the Steve Irwin Memorial Tribute DVD is an honor for all of us at EMI Music around the world. It allows us to contribute to the preservation of Steve's memory, and is something we are deeply grateful to have the opportunity to do. It's important to us that the work of such an iconic Australian and his passion for wildlife is not only remembered but is able to live on."
