Dr. Ben Chavis, President of the Hip Hop Summit Action Network & Doug E. Fresh Support the Music With A Conscious Message Movement Concert

NEW YORK, Oct. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The Music With A Conscious Message Movement is on target to be the next biggest thing since Hip Hop splashed on the scene and industry insiders know it! MCM has created a strong buzz amongst some of the industry's heaviest hitters and it is here to make a statement, "Be Conscious of What You Put Out There." The MCM Movement understands that "music is the weapon of the future."

On Saturday, October 7, 2006, the Movement begins. Maschil Entertainment, Inc. will present the 1st Annual MCM Movement Concert, featuring J-Harris and the J-Harris Dancers and David Homyk, a new and emerging Musician/Singer/Songwriter/Producer, at Aaron Davis Hall/Harlem Stage on the campus of City College, 135th & Convent Avenue, NYC at 7:30 p.m. The Concert will be hosted by Dr. Ben Chavis, President of the Hip Hop Summit Action Network and the world famous Doug E. Fresh.

As Dr. Ben Chavis so eloquently stated, "We welcome this initiative and stress the timeliness and importance of having a Movement that is inclusive of the genius and talent of today's youth. Hip Hop and popular culture yearn for conscious lyrics, music, video and all forms of expression that give rise to the higher aspirations of today's youth."

MCM was first defined by Joseph Harris Fleming aka J-Harris, a graduate of NYU's Graduate Music Business program, a Marketing Specialist with Sony/BMG's Zomba Label Group, Co-Manager with Music World Entertainment and an entrepreneur. J-Harris is seeking to propel MCM to the forefront of the industry.

J-Harris says, "Now, more than ever, conscious driven music is needed to inspire and uplift us as a people. Music is perhaps the most powerful weapon of the future, able to reach people who often cannot be reached through any other means. That's why it is my inspiration to only create, produce and perform music with a conscious message. I do this to inspire, encourage and uplift all people and myself. The MCM Concert is the beginning of a movement, for artists, executives and others in the music industry to become more conscious of what we put out there."

MCM is not new music but it is a genre that requires more attention. It is a brand that incorporates the best of R&B, spoken word, hip-hop, Contemporary Christian and Pop/Urban music. It is music by artists who understand that music is one of the world's best and most effective vehicles for conveying messages and influencing the moods, minds, and hearts of people across all ethnic, religious, and socio-economic lines.

The MCM Movement (www.mcmmovement.com) is not focused on preaching about what is wrong. It is not focused on preaching at all. It speaks to love, as well as pain, to relationships that work and to those that do not, but it does so in a way that consciously does not attack or degrade anyone. It represents uplifting music that helps all of us through whatever struggle we may be undergoing.

The concert will also feature 3-time "Showtime at the Apollo" winner Spoken Word artist Messiah, vocalist Aisha Aakiya, Rapper-Lite S.I.N. (Something Instead of Nothing), and other celebrity artists to be announced. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster or the Aaron Davis Hall Box Office.

Maschil Entertainment, Inc. was founded by Joseph H. Fleming. It is an independent entertainment company that specializes in developing and promoting music and artists who are conscious of the message music conveys. Maschil is found in scripture and is related to music and words of wisdom.
