Largest Ever Online News Association Conference - October 6-7 Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The biggest ONA conference to date will be held Oct. 6-7 at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C., featuring an exciting line-up of panel discussions, keynote addresses and the ONA's prestigious Online Journalism Awards.

The conference is structured on three tracts: content, convergence and commerce. It's aimed at veteran Web parishioners, newcomers and managers charged with growing the bottom line.

Sessions will include wisdom from digital leaders in new media, plus a look at young people's news habits. Finalists for the Online Journalism Awards and other "Best of the Best" who have produced cutting-edge content in the past year will be on hand to provide insights into their work. The conference culminates with a banquet that announces the award winners.

Highlights from this year's conference include:

TWO KEYNOTE ADDRESSES

Pioneering BBC News executive Adrian Van Klaveren will open the conference on Friday, October 6th. As Deputy Director and Controller of Production for BBC News, Van Klaveren has editorial, production and financial responsibility for television, radio and online news, and will discuss how the BBC is pioneering the revolution in online news.

NBA franchise owner and digital visionary, Mark Cuban, will be the luncheon keynote on Friday, October 6th. Cuban is the founder of HDNet, the blogging owner of the Dallas Mavericks, and the key investor in Sharesleuth.com, a blog aimed at exposing securities fraud. Cuban will highlight his latest ventures and answer questions.

Super panel: State of the Industry: "What's Next?"

Online gurus Michael Arrington (Tech Crunch), Mike Davidson (Newsvine), Herndon Graddick (Current TV) and Jeff Jarvis (Buzzmachine, Daylife) compare their latest projects and talk about what's ahead, with an emphasis on user- generated content. The session will also include a Q&A segment, giving the audience opportunity to interact with some of Web 2.0's most interesting players.
