Hispanic Business Magazine Names Comcast One of the Top 50 Companies for Hispanics
PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA; CMCSK), the nation's leading provider of cable, entertainment and communications products and services, was named one of the 2006 Top 50 Companies for Hispanics by Hispanic Business magazine for the second consecutive year. Comcast was ranked #31 by Hispanic Business, which determined company rankings by using more than 30 variables that measure companies' commitment to Hispanic hiring, promotion, marketing, philanthropy, and supplier diversity.
"We are pleased that our ongoing commitment to the Hispanic community has been recognized once again through this comprehensive assessment of our diversity initiatives," said Comcast Executive Vice President David L. Cohen. "Comcast continues to demonstrate our commitment to the Hispanic community by partnering with local organizations, offering a growing array of Spanish-language and Hispanic-themed programming, recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce, and through our aggressive supplier diversity initiatives."
"HACR is proud to partner with Comcast as they continue to strengthen their commitment to the Hispanic community," said Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility president and CEO Carlos F. Orta. "We look forward to continuing to assist the company in identifying opportunities for their supplier diversity program, recruitment, community investments and programming geared towards the Hispanic community."
This most recent recognition further exemplifies Comcast's overall commitment to diversity. In 2006 alone, Comcast has announced several partnerships with key Hispanic organizations, including the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), The National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) and the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI). The company has also added SiTV, a 24/7 English language Latino-themed network, in markets including Albuquerque, Central California and Chicago. Comcast has also enhanced its ON DEMAND en espanol offering, a video-on-demand service featuring more than 100 hours of Spanish-language viewing choices. In March 2006, Comcast also launched a Spanish-language portal, Comcast Latino.
HispanTelligence(R), the research arm of Hispanic Business Inc., ranked the top 50 companies using a weighted processing of company data, which included the companies' commitment to Hispanic hiring, promotion, marketing, philanthropy, and supplier diversity.
