Fans of the Fab Four Women From New York Will Find Satisfaction From Femme Fatales in 'Floaters'
Sitcom Fills the Gap Left by Carrie, Samantha, Miranda & Charlotte
NEW YORK, Sept. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- For those suffering withdrawal since "Sex and the City" came to an end, a new sitcom centering around three young women living in New York promises the desperately needed shot in the arm. With addictive, relatable story lines and a fresh mix of new talent, the brand new show "Floaters" -- available online -- allows audiences to tune in at their leisure, without having to shell out the cash for a pay cable service.
"Floaters" is the brainchild of Phoebeworks Productions, Inc., a producer of digital entertainment and lifestyle programming, and follows the lives, romantic entanglements and professional struggles of three young women as they attempt to navigate their way in the real world. The three women -- Megan, Nisha and Erika -- work as temps in a New York advertising agency and share a walk-up apartment in Hell's Kitchen. With a nod to the highly successful "Sex and the City," "Floaters" will offer a comedic slant on life's dramas relevant to women age 18-30.
The first season, which begins September 12, is made up of 15 weekly episodes, with each episode running approximately 30 minutes. Each episode will be divided into five segments, each of which will be broadcast daily Monday-Friday on the Internet at www.floaterstv.com. Viewers will be able to watch one full episode every week by going online and watching the daily segments on their computers.
In the first episode, Megan, Nisha and Erika head off to face the day within the walls of Effortless, the ad agency for which they work as permanent temps, or "floaters." Megan plans to celebrate her sixth anniversary (4-1/2 years if you count the break-ups) with her boyfriend Jake. Just as the day gets started, though, Megan is the victim of a drive-by break up when Jake calls to let her know the relationship is over. Megan goes through an emotional and philosophical crisis as she tries to make heads or tails of what has happened to her. Nisha and Erika do their best to help her move along in life, while trying to maintain a foothold on their own not-so-steady paths as actors.
The show stars the fresh talent of Lauren Cook, Punam Bean and Kaitlyn Black. It is written by a team of writers led by legit scribe Brooke Berman ("Smashing," "Until We Find Each Other").
Phoebeworks Productions, Inc., develops and produces a variety of digital entertainment and lifestyle content for broadcast on the Internet and through mobile phones and devices. The company is based in New York City with creator Mike Stickle, Karen G. Jackovich and Pamela Canales serving as executive producers.
