First 'Reality TV Style' Short Film Contest Hits the Web

SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- College and University filmmakers are seeking allies as they hope to win votes and avoid elimination at TheProject.TV, the Internet's first-ever multi-episode "Reality TV Style" short film contest produced by Packet Productions, Inc., a Salt Lake City-area company.

"In this contest, students produce 3-minute, 3-episode short films which are voted on over 3 rounds. Those with the most votes advance to be eligible to win cash and prizes while those with the least votes are eliminated," said Brett Haskins, Executive Producer of the contest.

Episode 1 Voting: August 1 - 31, 2006
Episode 2 Voting: September 1 - 15, 2006
Episode 3 Voting: September 16 - 30, 2006
Winners announced October 2, 2006

"I've participated in 5 online film contests and this one is by far the best. The 3-episode format with reality-style voting is a killer concept," said Tim Inzana, a student filmmaker from UCSB participating in the contest.

This contest is just the first of several projects and contests planned, explained Haskins: "Our goal is to not only produce original contests, but work with ad agencies and companies to leverage the creative community in their campaigns."

For now, all 59 "Episode 1" short films can be viewed and voted on at http://www.theproject.tv/.
