Evanescence Announces Return to the Road

Evanescence Announces Return to the Road

Tickets On-Sale August 19th

NEW YORK, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Evanescence has announced an on-sale date of August 19 for tickets to the upcoming first leg of its world tour. Beginning in Toronto, Ontario on October 5th, the rock group, featuring Amy Lee (vocals, piano), Terry Balsamo (guitar), John LeCompt (guitar) and Rocky Gray (drums), will perform seventeen North American dates plus a live performance at the MTV Video Music Awards Latin in Mexico City before heading overseas for a second leg in Europe. A complete list of shows with an on-sale August 19 is listed below.

On October 3, the band will release the much-anticipated album, The Open Door on Wind-up Records. Evanescence's second studio album follows its debut Fallen, and the live DVD/CD Anywhere But Home. Combined, the two titles have sold in excess of fifteen million copies worldwide. The Open Door is the ideal showcase for the band's inevitable personal and professional growth, with songs of introspection, longing, doubt, self-respect and ultimately, empowerment and anticipation. Several songs include a choir, as well as strings recorded in an old chapel. The album is defined by Amy Lee's beautiful melodies, profound lyrics, stunning vocals and poignant piano, which fuse with Terry Balsamo's urgent, yet intricate guitar playing, to form a remarkable, ethereal blend perfectly rooted in the band's rock and classical sensibilities offering up its signature sound. Lyrically, Amy Lee has delivered a passionate, empowered album.

Evanescence experienced a meteoric rise to the top with its Fallen release. The two Top Ten Singles "Bring Me To Life" and "My Immortal," two Grammy Awards in 2003 (Best New Artist and Best Hard Rock Performance for "Bring Me To Life"), a run of over one hundred weeks on Billboard Magazine's Top 200 chart, gold or platinum certification in over 35 countries and sold-out arenas globally are some of the accomplishments that fueled this arrival as one of the most important bands in Rock.

This first leg of North American dates commences following the release of The Open Door on October 3, with the aim of rewarding hardcore fans with intimate theater/ballroom dates before heading into larger venues for shows in 2007. On August 19, tickets for the following performances will be made available to the general public:

The inherent drama in Evanescence's music -- a kind of audio odyssey that can turn on a dime from piano-led introspection to hammering guitar -- has resonated with listeners around the world. The band's aggressive core finds a counterpart in Lee's passionate vocals, lyrics that forge a connection with audiences searching for identity or struggling with feelings of desire, hope, love and loss. The Open Door is a logical (but certainly not predictable) transformation of epic proportions for the band, which, in many ways has only just begun to make its mark on the music world. Within a week of availability, hundreds of radio stations and all of the national video channels in The United States have been banging the first single "Call Me When You're Sober."
