Critically-Acclaimed Singer-Songwriter to Play Austin City Limits Festival
Debut Album in Stores Now
NEW YORK, Aug. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Following up his successful US tour with Gomez in May, the critically-acclaimed UK singer-songwriter David Ford will return to the states to open a series of shows for Aimee Mann in September (see itinerary following). Prior to the Aimee Mann tour, Ford is also scheduled to perform at the Austin City Limits Festival on Friday, September 15.
Originally released in the UK late last year, I Sincerely Apologise For All The Trouble I've Caused was written, produced and performed in its entirety by David Ford, who recorded the album between October 2004 and February 2005 at home in Eastbourne and Lewes, Sussex, UK, using an Apple G4 computer. Ford, who plays virtually all the instruments on the album, is joined on select tracks by Frances Law (additional vocals), Franco Bidanco (tenor saxophone), and his local football club, Team Sundry (choral voices).
Released in the states in May 2006, David Ford's debut album, I Sincerely Apologise For All The Trouble I've Caused, immediately drew impressive press accolades from the American music press.
"Like Damien Rice and Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes, Mr. Ford builds stately, inexorable crescendos," wrote The New York Times while Elle praised David's "melodious and reflective balladry."
Rolling Stone, in a three-star review, heralded Ford's "gentle voice ... witty honest" while American Songwriter found in Ford's debut "a work of sheer greatness that rivals many of his genre's contemporaries."
The Philadelphia Inquirer called I Sincerely Apologise For All The Trouble I've Caused "a surprisingly subtle standout ... strung together with an emotional intensity that never lets up" while the Charleston Post & Courier predicted that "listeners will be left in awe by the raw power of Ford's venom, which has been distilled into the jaw-droppingly intense songs on this new CD. Picture Trent Reznor crossed with David Gray, and you start to get an idea of what's in store for you."
"Take an emotive Damien Rice-like singer/songwriter and add layers of sounds created by pedals and delays, and that's this U.K. newcomer," noted the Minneapolis Star-Tribune after one of David Ford's live performances. "To watch him build the poignant songscapes by looping just a few instruments was truly magical."
