Terra Networks Sign Strategic Internet Distribution Agreement With JumpTV

More Than 38 Million Users to Have Access to JumpTV's International Internet Television Content

NEW YORK, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- JumpTV (www.jumptv.com), the world's leading online television network, announced it has signed a multi-year agreement with Terra Networks, the leading internet portal in Latin America, to distribute its international, Internet television content to Terra customers in 17 Latin American countries. Terra is a subsidiary of Telefonica, S.A. (NYSE:TEF), one of the world's largest telecommunications companies serving more than 180 million customers in Latin America, Europe and Africa.

Through the agreement, users of Terra portals throughout Latin America will have access to JumpTV's circa 200 channels from more than 65 countries, including Bandeirantes (Brazil), America TV, Telefe Internacional, Canal 9 (Argentina), TVE, TV Chile and VTV Uruguay, among many others. JumpTV's streamed content will be presented through the Terra portal as part of a broadband content offering currently planned within its TV Terra service. This content will be made available to all Terra Latin American customers on an ad-supported basis.

"As the premier internet company in Latin America, Terra was a natural partner for JumpTV," said Kaleil Isaza Tuzman, president and chief executive officer of JumpTV International.

"Considering global demographics, the growing penetration of broadband Internet access worldwide and the composition of our broadcast channel line- up, a significant portion of JumpTV's existing and future customers will come from the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking world. Combining these global trends with Terra's strong presence as the leading Internet company in Latin America, a clear marriage of objectives has been created," added Isaza Tuzman.

Beginning this summer, Terra users in the following countries will be able to easily access JumpTV's live and on-demand video content: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

As per Internet World Stat, Internet usage in Latin America grew nearly 330% between 2000 and 2005; according to Research and Markets broadband penetration grew at an approximate annual rate of 75% in 2005, making Latin America one of the world's fastest growing areas in broadband uptake. The Latin American broadband leaders are Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Chile.

"With this partnership, we are able to offer JumpTV's portfolio of 200 channels to all Terra users in Latin America, along with TV Terra, setting a strong foothold in the Internet television medium," said Fernando Madeira, chief executive officer of Terra in Latin America. "JumpTV is an ideal partner, as they recognize the diversity of Terra's 38 million unique visitors per month and provide a platform with a wide range of content that can be viewed anywhere, anytime."
