Dominion's grant of $15,000 for the Tiny Tots program will ensure that thousands of children will hear their world-class orchestra in Heinz Hall and learn about musical concepts, such as dynamics and tempo. Each Tiny Tots concert focuses on a particular theme and highlights the instruments of the orchestra.
An additional $10,000 contribution from Dominion to the Fiddlesticks Family Concerts will allow audiences to experience hands-on music education with their musical ambassador and friend -- Fiddlesticks. An event for the whole family, the Fiddlesticks Concerts include one-hour of Discovery Time Activities prior to the concert, with musical activities, demonstrations by PSO musicians, live performances, and more.
The success of both of these programs has allowed children and families of all ages to come together to enjoy music in a fun and interactive way.
Funding for the grants comes from the Dominion Foundation, which is dedicated to the economic, physical and social health of the communities served by Dominion companies.
The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra has been a vital part of the city of Pittsburgh for over 100 years. Performing worldwide and at home in Heinz Hall, the Orchestra has managed to capture fans of all ages with their unique sound and educational programs.
