Azteca America Fills Out Coverage in Top 25 Markets

With the Simultaneous Incorporation of Boston and Twin Falls, Azteca America Reaches 50 Markets in Five Years

LOS ANGELES, July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Azteca America, the fastest growing Hispanic television network in the United States, is pleased to announce newly affiliated stations in Boston and Twin Falls.

The Boston station completes coverage in all of the top 25 U.S. Hispanic markets. Ranked number 23 in size of Hispanic television households by Nielsen Media Research, the market has an estimated 117,000 Hispanic television households, which represent 1.04% of the total Hispanic market. The Boston signal airs on WFXZ Channel 24.

"We said we would be at 50 markets by year end, and here we are with five months to spare," said Azteca America Chairman Luis J. Echarte. "Filling out the top 25 markets is especially important for Hispanic television given the higher concentration in urban areas compared to the general market."

"Azteca America is a franchise that continues to break ground on both coasts and we're proud to be a part of the organization," said Randy Weigner, President of Boston Broadcasting Corp. "The sports -- especially Mexican soccer and Latino boxing -- as well as novelas, entertainment, news and reality shows like La Academia are unmatched."

Separately, the network is also on the air in Twin Falls, Idaho, where Azteca America can be viewed on the over-the-air station KYTL, Channel 53, in addition to the local Cable One system on Channel 18. The town is home to the famous Snake River Canyon Jump attempted by motorcycle daredevil Evil Knievel in 1974.

"We're very excited to be part of the Azteca America family," said Broadcasting owner Todd Lopes. "There's no doubt that the Twin Falls community is eager for the top Mexican soccer, novelas, news, entertainment and reality shows that only Azteca America can offer."

Azteca America's parent company TV Azteca produces over 9,000 hours annually. In addition to access to TV Azteca libraries, Azteca America produces over 1,000 hours of programming exclusively for the U.S. Hispanic market.
