PayPlay Launches Online Music Download Store

PayPlay Launches Online Music Download Store

Digital Licensing Service for Independent Artists Expands to Offer Track Hosting, Promotion, and Sales

NEW YORK, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- PayPlay, a media technology company that provides digital rights protection of media files, has unveiled PayPlay.FM (http://www.payplay.fm/) -- a complete licensing, distribution, and promotion solution for independent artists and bands.

PayPlay.FM is an extension of the services offered by the company's original site, PayPlay.com (http://www.payplay.com/). PayPlay.com's primary objective is to bring the power of enterprise-level digital rights management to independent artists by encrypting media files so that they cannot be played without owner receiving payment. Media files digitally signed by PayPlay remain secure even after being copied and shared via P2P networks, making PayPlay the only P2P-friendly music distribution system.

The full service PayPlay.FM platform digitally signs files for licensing and tracking purposes, hosts tracks and album artwork, provides free customizable and skinnable flash music players that help artists promote their music on MySpace, artist sites, blogs and networking portals, and facilitates the sale of either digital downloads or jewel case versions of the music. Tracks are priced at a competitive 77 cents each and deliver high quality 192kpbs VBR sound -- far superior to the 128kbps bit rate of iTunes and other similar online music download stores. Currently, a library of more than 600,000 indie tracks from dozens of music genres is available on PayPlay.FM.

The artist-friendly PayPlay system is easy and free to set up online. Even though music sales are priced as low as 77 cents per track and $7.77 per album, PayPlay still manages to give the highest percentage in the industry back to the artist.

Elliot Goykhman, CEO of PayPlay explains, "With rights protection a constant concern even among independent artists, we felt our technology was the piece that was missing from other music promotion and download sites. We offer artists a way to choose which songs they give their audience for free, and which ones they get paid for. We give artists the tools to promote themselves on MySpace, websites and blogs. For the artists who don't have the power of a RIAA or corporate legal department behind them, we want to be the solution for monetizing their work."

PayPlay was founded in 2004 by Henrik Werdelin, Alexander Agassi and Elliot Goykhman. With over 30 years of combined Internet and music industry experience, frustrated with the current state of the art for monetizing digital media, they set off to create a best practice licensing platform for independent content producers.

Later this year PayPlay plans to launch an online video download store featuring music videos, short films, movie trailers, TV shows and more. PayPlay is also working on an innovative new distribution and publicity system that will allow fans to get paid for promoting the bands, music, or films they love.
