MOUNT AIRY, N.C., June 28 /PRNewswire/ -- In announcing that NCFI Polyurethanes has signed on as corporate sponsor for the third season of the nationally-broadcast public television series Simple Living with Wanda Urbanska, company president Swanson Snow explained that "the best technologies reduce the complexity of life, allowing us to focus on the things that really matter. That's what the Simple Living message is all about, and it's consistent with what we try to do every day. NCFI is thrilled to be able to contribute to the continued success of a show that reflects those values."

Urbanska, who produces the successful television series along with partner Frank Levering, enthusiastically welcomed NCFI's investment in the project. "One of the reasons we approached NCFI was because their products are so consistent with the message of our show. They create comfort and reduce energy consumption. They promote environmental stewardship while helping people save money. All of these things contribute to the ease and sustainability of our lives."

The third season of Simple Living with Wanda Urbanska will be released to the PBS system nationally beginning on January 6, 2007. Simple Living reached two-thirds of American households last season, and Urbanska says the appeal of the show's message of simplicity is driving high anticipation for the upcoming third season. "Frank and I found the beauty of the simple life here in Mount Airy, North Carolina, but the desire for a clean, uncluttered existence is clearly a national phenomenon."

In a recent diary entry on the show's Web site (simplelivingtv.net), Urbanska noted that NCFI's relationship with the Simple Living family goes back generations. In 1966 the Levering Orchard packhouse, then operated by Frank's father, Sam, became one of the spray polyurethane foam (SPF) manufacturer's first customers.

"Sam had made the decision to rebuild after a fire the previous year," explains Urbanska. "He called an old Mount Airy friend who knew a lot about insulation, and his friend told him about a new product called 'spray-in-place foam insulation' that would keep apples cold like nobody's business. Though the product was new and largely untested, Sam liked what he heard. Swanson Snow was actually there for the installation. Today, 40 years later, the cold storage at Levering Orchard packhouse is still insulated by that same original application of foam."

Urbanska goes on to note that NCFI provided an early grant for research and development when she and Frank were working to get Simple Living off the ground.

Snow sees NCFI's involvement with Simple Living as a step that makes sense on a number of levels. "We're working together with old friends, and that kind of cooperation is fundamental to any solid community. NCFI is also fortunate to be involved in an industry that actually does make the world a better place. We hope that our investments in programs and organizations that share these ethical values will serve as an example for other businesses."

Both parties are delighted that such a terrific synergy occurred in a town of 8,300. "In addition to promoting the values of environmental stewardship, thoughtful consumption, community involvement and financial responsibility to a national audience," says Urbanska, "Simple Living is also promoting our hometown of Mount Airy and the state of North Carolina. It's wonderful synergy that our new corporate sponsor is located here."

UNC-TV, the statewide system of North Carolina, will present the series nationally to public television stations. Viewers can check local listings for times, and they can also visit the show's Web site at www.simplelivingtv.net to locate their PBS affiliate.
