Baugh Entertainment Announces the Label's First Digital Downloads

OAKLAND, Calif., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Baugh Entertainment announced today the release of SOMEBODY'S GOTTA DO IT digital downloads, the debut solo album from JB, one of the hottest up-and-coming rappers from the Bay Area.

Baugh Entertainment was founded in 1998 by Jason Baugh. He founded the label after his own rap group Flawless (JB and JASON VORHEES) couldn't garner the attention of music executives. After shopping the album to several record companies Jason Baugh decided to release the album on his own; thus, Baugh Entertainment was formed. After creating the company Mr. Baugh bankrolled the group's first music video, for the single PUTTIN IT DOWN. The video was shot in the infamous Continental Club and lasted approximately seven (7) hours at the cost of just over $3,000.00. Mr. Baugh and his brother/partner Aaron Baugh distributed the album by using consignment in several local record stores. The album created quite a buzz in the Bay Area and even got the attention of the Oakland Tribune in which the paper printed an interview. Soon after, the group members went their own ways to pursue solo careers in 2000.

During the recording of SOMEBODY'S GOTTA DO IT, Jason Baugh learned how challenging the music industry could be; thus, JB released the album on his own this time. In the form of digital downloads on his own website at http://www.baughmusic.com/, the website contains everything: snippets, streaming videos, the 2006 radio ad, interviews, the latest news, downloads and more. The next goal is to reach out to the world, to be recognized globally and to reach ghetto platinum status (100,000 copies sold); normally 1,000,000 units sold is considered platinum, a ghetto gold album is 50,000 units sold, and in the mainstream industry 500,000 units sold is a gold album.
