Toshiba Showcases its Comprehensive Television Line-Up at Annual Dealer Line Show

All inclusive line features everything in TV including the new REGZA(TM) LCDs, LCDVD(TM), Plasma, DLP(R) Projection and Direct View CTV models, all in stylish cosmetic designs

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla., May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing to offer one of the widest selections of television in the industry, in a wide range of display technologies, sizes and configurations, Toshiba America Consumer Products, L.L.C. ("Toshiba") showcased its full line of TVs at its annual dealer line show. In addition to displaying its new REGZA LCD TVs, Toshiba exhibited its extensive line including 20 LCD TVs, 13 Direct View CTVs, nine DLP TVs and two HD Plasma TV models.

Toshiba Flat Panel TV Line

At the forefront of Toshiba's Flat Panel line are the new REGZA LCD models, including the new XHD(TM) 1080p sets. The REGZA line of LCDs features state-of-the-art technology and new cosmetic designs. Utilizing Toshiba's own PixelPure Hi-Bit(TM) 12-bit Digital Video Processing and fast CineSpeed(TM) LCD Panel technologies, the REGZA line will deliver stunning lifelike images unlike anything Toshiba has offered before.

For 2006, Toshiba will offer an extensive line-up of 12 REGZA LCD TV models in home theater screen sizes ranging from 26" diagonally measured to 47" diagonally measured. The REGZA series will include REGZA, REGZA LCDVD with built-in DVD player, REGZA XHD with 1080p display resolution, Cinema Series(R) REGZA and Cinema Series REGZA XHD.

This year, Toshiba highlighted one of the most extensive lines of flat panel TVs in the industry, ranging from 20" diagonally measured to 50" diagonally measured. This includes LCD, Plasma and the highly popular LCDVD(TM) sets. In addition to REGZA, highlights include the RealSteel(TM), the industry's first 20" diagonally measured HD LCD TV with real metal cabinetry made of stainless steel to match stainless steel kitchen appliances, Custom Series(TM) LCD, and two new HD Plasma TV models measuring diagonally 42" and 50".

DLP Line

Combining Toshiba's proprietary engine and video processing with unique cosmetic designs, Toshiba showcased a hot new line-up of DLP projection TVs, ranging in size from 42" diagonally measured to 72" diagonally measured. Toshiba showcased nine new models, all with industry leading picture quality and beautiful designs.

Toshiba's 720p models with DLP technology will utilize the TALEN 5 engine. This engine incorporates the HD5 DLP chip from Texas Instruments and the Radiance 150-watt lamp to deliver deep, sharp images with amazing brightness. All 50" diagonally measured and larger models utilize the advanced PixelPure Hi-Bit 12-bit Digital Video Processing for industry leading picture quality. They also complement virtually any home décor with their new compact Scoop Design cabinetry and SoundStrip(TM) speaker system.

Leading in performance, Toshiba's XHD 1080p models incorporate the TALEN X(TM) engine. This engine utilizes the xHD5 DLP chip from Texas Instruments and Toshiba's Xtreme BLAC(TM) aperture control technology to provide twice the pixel resolution and twice the contrast. Toshiba's XHD technology provides the detailed picture resolution and brightness necessary for 60" diagonal and larger screen sizes.

Direct View CTV - Still Big Business

As a leading manufacturer in this category, Toshiba continues to produce a full line of Direct View CTV models. Toshiba's full line-up offers models ranging from 13" diagonally measured to 32" diagonally measured, including analog, Non-Flat SD, Flat SD, 16:9 Flat SD and 16:9 Flat HD digital sets. Toshiba offers eight digital integrated sets with NTSC and ATSC/QAM digital tuning for digital cable-in-the-clear. These models feature surround sound, front and rear A/V inputs and come equipped with a universal remote control.

Toshiba also showed off their two FST PURE(R) widescreen HDTV models. These new models offer 1080i display resolution and come equipped with an HDMI(TM) digital input and two sets of ColorStream(R) HD inputs.
