Thousands Expected to Celebrate at Israel Independence Day Festival Sunday, May 7 in Woodley Park, Van Nuys

WHAT: The Israel Independence Day Festival, a communitywide
celebration for Israel's 58th Independence Day. Event will
feature local dignitaries, including LA Mayor Antonio
Villaraigosa; LA County Sheriff's Department Golden Stars
Skydiving Team; live entertainment; amusement park; marketplace;
children's area; ethnic food; and giant dance party.

The Festival will also feature Cafe Tel Aviv, a lounge area
recreated to offer the authentic look and feel of a typical
Israeli street cafe, and a Children's Village with many family
attractions, including a children's stage with live
performances, magic shows, interactive games and story time with
renowned author Sylvia Rouss, courtesy of The Jewish Community
Library of Los Angeles.

WHO: Organizers: A partnership between The Israel Independence Day
Festival Committee (a non-profit public benefit corporation) and
The Jewish Federation.

Host/emcee: Dennis Prager of NewsTalk 870 KRLA

Participating dignitaries: Los Angeles Mayor Antonio
Villaraigosa; L.A. County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavski; State
Senator Richard Alarcon; Congressman Howard Berman; Councilman
Jack Weiss; Assemblyman Dario Frommer; Congressman Brad Sherman;
and Consul General of Israel in Los Angeles Ehud Danoch.

Entertainment: Broadway sensation Dudu Fisher; Israeli rockers
Mashina as well as music from Balkan Beat Box (currently on tour
