On Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 8:15 P.M. at the Grosvenor House Hotel in
London, Award-winning producer DAVID GEST (who will make his first appearance
in London in three years) and legendary Motown singer/songwriter SMOKEY
ROBINSON will announce a series of international concerts to take place next
year celebrating 'SMOKEY ROBINSON: 50TH ANNIVERSARY ALL-STAR SALUTE.' More
than 100 stars from the recording, motion picture, television and sports
fields are expected to be in attendance.
Robinson has not performed in London since 1984. There will be a private
performance by Robinson and his band at the kickoff party launching the
anniversary celebration. Robinson recently appeared on the David Gest
produced television special "Dionne Warwick: 45th Anniversary Spectacular"
taped at the Los Angeles Kodak Theatre this past January which will be seen
throughout the world this fall. Robinson will be introduced at the party by a
very special surprise guest.
Robinson has been responsible for writing more than 1,000 songs
including: "My Girl" (Temptations); "The Way You Do The Things You Do"
(Temptations); "Get Ready" (Temptations); "Ain't That Peculiar" (Marvin
Gaye); "Still Water (Love)" (The Four Tops); "My Guy" (Mary Wells); "Two

LEGENDARY HOLLYWOOD FILM ICON JANE RUSSELL, who will turn 85 this year,
will make a rare London appearance to introduce Gest. According to Russell,
"David is family and I am traveling by boat just to be in London to introduce
him that night. I am delighted to be part of this event and I have always
been a huge fan of Smokey Robinson. I can't wait to hear him sing!" Also
introducing Gest will be his longtime friend, legendary "Downtown" pop star
PETULA CLARK C.B.E.
Gest has produced more than 100 shows throughout the world and received
numerous awards for his productions. He is also responsible for producing the
highest-rated musical special in American television history. "Michael
Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration." The show was seen by more than
44 million people, one in every four households and also broke records in
10 other countries. In 2002, he produced the SRO Comeback Tour of Liza
Minnelli in "Liza's Back" which ran for seven nights at the Royal Albert Hall
and received rave reviews from critics.
Following the performance by Robinson, guests will receive a rare treat
for their dancing pleasure. FREDA PAYNE is flying in from Los Angeles to
perform "Band Of Gold" and "Bring The Boys Home;" DENIECE WILLIAMS, also
flying in from Los Angeles, will perform "Let's Hear It For The Boy," "Free,"
"That's What Friends Are For," and "It's Gonna Take A Miracle;" CANDI STATON,
flying in from Atlanta, will perform her recent Top 10 pop hit "You Got The
Love" as well as her classics "Young Hearts Run Free" and "Suspicious Minds"
and BONNIE TYLER will fly in from Germany (where she is promoting her new CD)
to perform "It's A Heartache," "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" and "I Need A
Hero." According to Gest, "There are many more surprises in store for the
evening! There will also be guests ranging from cast members of 'Coronation
Street' and 'EastEnders' to top recording artists, models as well as movie,
television and sports stars of all generations. I am really looking forward
