Doctors, Dentists and Nurses Most Trusted Professionals to Give Advice, According to Harris Poll of U.S. Adults

Different professions vary greatly in how much they are trusted to give their clients or patients good advice. According to a recent Harris Poll measuring U-S adults' trust in eleven different professions to give advice that is best for them, the professionals trusted completely by the greatest number of adults are doctors at fifty percent, dentists at forty-seven, and nurses at forty-six percent. At the other end of the list, those with the fewest adults saying they trust them completely are stockbrokers at six percent, real estate agents at seven and insurance agents at nine percent.

National River Cleanup Week Kicks off This Weekend

A record number of volunteers are expected to participate in National River Cleanup Week scheduled for May thirteenth through the twenty-first. Four hundred cleanups are already registered for the 2006 event with an expected sixty thousand volunteer participants. According to David Brown, chairman of National River Cleanup Week, the public's increased awareness of trash accumulating in our rivers and streams has resulted in more volunteer participants in 2006 than any previous year.

First Homeland Security Majors Set to Graduate

Virginia Commonwealth University this month will award diplomas to the first group of students to complete the only bachelor's degree program in homeland security and emergency preparedness at a major research university in the United States.
