A Harris survey finds that a majority of adults agree that a company should have the freedom to decide for itself the benefits it offers to its employees and their spouses or partners. People also feel that the benefits a company offers its employees are a critical determinant to where one works. Similar majorities of heterosexual adults and gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender adults say they consider a company's employee benefits to be an absolutely essential or very important factor when choosing to work for one company over another.

Airlines Expect Strong Passenger Traffic for Memorial Day Travel
The Air Transport Association expects more than 21 million passengers to travel globally on U-S airlines over the 2006 Memorial Day holiday.
The nation's airlines are expecting to transport two-point-one million passengers per day between Monday, May 22 and Wednesday, May 31. Systemwide, passenger volumes during this period are projected to rise nearly two percent from a year ago, principally due to nine percent growth in international air travel.

Retailers Project Higher Sales but Lackluster Margins for 2006 Holiday Season
Oracle has announced the results of a national study of retailer projections for the 2006 holiday season. The survey reveals that, despite rising energy prices, the retail sector predicts strong sales growth over last year. The majority of the study's respondents project solid sales growth or exceptional growth over last year's holiday season.
At the same time, however, nearly 90 percent of retailers surveyed predict flat or declining margins over last year, largely due to rising energy costs. These findings indicate that retailers plan to continue absorbing increased transportation costs instead of passing them along to consumers, ultimately impacting the bottom line.
