Oprah Winfrey Show to feature acclaimed documentary
'Cracked Not Broken' to be featured on Oprah Monday, May 8
TORONTO, May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Documentary film, Cracked Not Broken, is scheduled to be featured on the Oprah Winfrey Show on Monday, May 8. The episode "Inside the Lives of Young Prostitutes" will feature footage from the documentary and an interview with the film's subject, Lisa.
Cracked Not Broken, by filmmaker Paul Perrier and producer Tom Powers, is a co-production of Open Door and blatantexposure.films. The documentary is a 52 minute real time slice of the life of Lisa who grew up in an upper-middle class family in Toronto, attended the right schools and hung out with the right friends, yet along the way things went terribly wrong. Today, Lisa is an estranged mother of one who prostitutes herself to support her crack habit. The film is an intense glimpse into the harsh reality and chaotic lifestyle of a highly intelligent drug addict and her search for redemption.
"Lisa's story vividly demonstrates that despite a privileged background, we are still vulnerable to addicting drugs," said Tom Powers, producer of Cracked Not Broken. "This film is not about preaching it is about opening a dialogue and educating those that feel invincible and those that prefer to turn a blind eye."
Cracked Not Broken was first screened in September 2005, and is available for sale at www.crackednotbroken.com. The film has been screened for over 5000 high schools students and will have its US premier at the San Francisco Documentary Festival May 14. Open Door sold the film for broadcast in the UK and Israel and is actively pursuing other broadcast deals around the world through its distributor Tricon Films.
