MSN Movies Gives Moviegoers a Chance to Click 'N' Vote for Their Favorite Movie Trailers From Among This Year's Hollywood Reporter Key Art Awards Nominees

LOS ANGELES, May 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Moviegoers can now vote for their favorite movie trailers on MSN Movies at http://movies.msn.com/2006KeyArtAwards. MSN Movies, a leading online movie resource for consumers, is an official sponsor of The Hollywood Reporter's 35th Annual Key Art Awards and is hosting the voting Web site.

This Web site gives the general public a chance to pick the best trailers from among the finalists of the Key Art Awards' four trailer categories -- Comedy, Drama, Action Adventure and Teaser. The results of this voting will be announced as the MSN Movies Trailer Audience Award at the Key Art Awards ceremony on Friday, June 16 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood and posted on www.HollywoodReporter.com/keyarts and MSN Movies following the event.

"MSN Movies gives people access to a variety of rich entertainment content, including movie trailers, behind-the-scenes tours, cast and crew video interviews, and the latest movie news," said Rob Bennett, general manager for Entertainment and Video Services at MSN. "Now the MSN audience can participate in the Key Art Awards and play the role of Hollywood insider by voting for the best movie trailer."

Voting procedures are designed so that only one user per computer terminal can cast a vote, thus helping to ensure the validity of the results. The voting period begins today on MSN Movies and will last until midnight on Monday, June 5.

"Trailers are created so that the public can sample in two minutes what spending two hours with a movie will feel like. It's an art form unto itself," said Bob Israel, executive producer of the Key Art Awards and chairman emeritus of the Aspect Group of Companies. "And now with MSN Movies, people can choose which trailers deserve our Oscar -- the Key Art Award!"

Actor-comedian Kevin Nealon returns as host of this year's awards show, which is the cornerstone event in the movie advertising community, annually attracting more than 1,800 executives and creative professionals from all the major studios and ad agencies.

The Key Art Awards honor excellence in movie advertising. Finalists will vie for top prize in 29 categories of trailers, posters, Web sites and outdoor and home entertainment advertising materials, among other areas.

This year, the Awards committee received a record 1,423 submissions. More than 460 movie advertising professionals served as judges and viewed and ranked the entries. The eligibility period for entries is January 2005 to December 2005.

The term "key art" refers to the singular, iconographic image that is the foundation upon which a movie's marketing campaign is built.
