BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Chris Martin, the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist and pianist of Coldplay, will be performing live at UCLA's Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation's 11th Annual signature fundraiser. Coldplay has earned four Grammys(R) (including the prestigious Record of the Year award for "Clocks") and watched their 2000 debut "Parachutes" and "A Rush of Blood to the Head" sell a combined 20 million copies worldwide. Their most recent album, "X&Y" sold over 8 million copies, making it the bestselling album of 2005 worldwide. This year's benefit, "A Taste of Napa," will take place on May 20th at the elegant Regent Beverly Wilshire.

The Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation at UCLA will honor Alex Wallau, President of ABC Network Operations and Administration this year with the Gil Nickel Humanitarian Award. "We are honored to present the Gil Nickel Humanitarian Award to Alex for his continued efforts in making cancer research a vital priority for the ultimate cure of this insidious disease," said John Tucker, Chair of the JCCF Special Events Committee.

Barbara Fairchild, editor-in-chief of Bon Appetit magazine, is the Event Chair. Robert Iger, President and CEO of The Walt Disney Company and his wife, journalist, Willow Bay are the Co-Chairs of the Dinner Committee.

This culinary extravaganza will feature some of the top wines and chefs from Napa Valley, including Ken Frank, La Toque, Cindy Pawlcyn, Mustards Grill and Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen, and Eric Torralba, E.T. Kitchen. Conny Andersson, Executive Chef at the Regent Beverly Wilshire, will also participate as Hosting Chef. This extraordinary evening will include live and silent auctions, with spectacular vacation destinations, wine and restaurant packages.

The JCCF, founded in 1945, is the single-most important vehicle for raising private funds for cancer research at UCLA. It supports a number of high-priority cancer research efforts focused on converting laboratory discoveries into more effective therapies for cancer patients. For the sixth consecutive year, UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center (JCCC) is rated as one of the nation's top 10 cancer centers and "Best in the West" by U.S. News & World Report. The JCCC's dedicated researchers are clearly recognized as international leaders in the discovery of new and better ways to prevent, detect and treat cancer.
