Nike+iPod Sport Kit Connects Nike+ Ready Footwear to Create the Ultimate Personal Running and Workout Experience
NEW YORK, May 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Your run will never be the same again. Nike (NYSE:NKE) is introducing the Air Zoom Moire, the first footwear designed to talk to Apple's iPod(R) nano, connecting you to the ultimate personal running and workout experience. Nike plans to make many of its leading footwear styles Nike+ ready, connecting millions of consumers to the Nike+iPod experience.
The Air Zoom Moire connects to iPod through the wireless Nike+iPod Sport Kit. With Nike+ footwear connected to iPod nano, information on time, distance, calories burned and pace is stored on iPod and displayed on the screen; real-time audible feedback also is provided through headphones. The kit includes an in-shoe sensor and a receiver that attaches to iPod.
After a workout, simply connect iPod nano to a Mac(R) or PC and with the help of iTunes automatically sync and store workout data in a customized workout log on nikeplus.com. Nikeplus.com offers personal service that helps maximize the Nike+iPod experience. You can log workout data, view and evaluate personal training goals, and review distance, time, pace and calories burned all through a colorful, dynamic and easy to use interface.
The Nike Sport Music section of the iTunes(R) Music Store further enhances the Nike+iPod experience with features like Workouts, special coaching mixes with music and voiceover instruction from athletes such as marathon legend Alberto Salazar; and Athlete Inspirations, playlists and audio commentary from athletes such as Lance Armstrong. The Nike Sport Music section also will include podcasts by Nike, Sport iMix playlists created and posted by iTunes users and a special workout mix created by GRAMMY-award nominee "The Crystal Method."
When a little extra motivation is needed, the new PowerSong feature boosts a workout. Briefly holding the center button on the iPod will activate the pre-selected Power Song and help kick a workout to the next level.
Nike also is introducing a range of performance apparel and accessories, including jackets, tops, shorts and armband, designed for the iPod nano and Nike+iPod Sport Kit. All Nike+ apparel is designed for the way athletes move, integrating smart, ergonomic design, performance-specific materials, ventilation, and weather protection.
This Fall, Nike will introduce six other footwear styles that are Nike+ ready and designed to hold the sensor: the Air Zoom Plus, Air Max Moto, Nike Shox Turbo OH, Air Max 180, Nike Shox Navina and Air Max 90.
