Tut Systems Announces New T2 Product Line to Power Quad-Play Services for Hotels

Tut Systems Announces New T2 Product Line to Power Quad-Play Services for Hotels

Tut Systems Introduces an Innovative Power-over-Broadband Solution for the Convergence of IP Video, Voice, Data, and Wireless Services

LAKE OSWEGO, Ore., April 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tut Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:TUTS), an industry leader enabling the delivery of next-generation data and video services over broadband networks, today introduced its latest innovation for private broadband networks that are deployed across multi-tenant dwelling units, hotel complexes, and campus networks. The newly announced T2 product line delivers both power and broadband connectivity up to 75 Mbps over standard telephone wiring. While specifically designed to deliver multiple channels of high-definition television over IP networks, the product line also enables campus wide deployment of voice-over-IP phones, wireless access points, and IP-enabled security cameras.

By delivering both power and broadband connectivity across a single in-house telephone line, T2 eliminates the cost, installation, and maintenance issues associated with standard DSL-like systems that all require local power. T2 provides power through a patent-pending process over existing telephone lines to the wall plate. The T2's advanced IP networking features ensure application-level security and privacy, which enables convergence of all applications across a single network to deliver multiple channels of high-definition broadcast or on-demand video to each customer end point.

Hotels and other multi-tenant unit operators can utilize the T2 system in their existing network infrastructure without the need for any new wiring to:

-- deliver multiple channels of standard and high definition TV to guest
rooms, recreational facilities, and public spaces;
-- serve high-speed Internet access to guest rooms and conference rooms;
-- enable Wi-FI access points across public spaces; and
-- facilitate the seamless deployment of voice-over-IP phones throughout
the complex.

Initial deployments of T2 systems have been completed in the US, Europe and Japan.

"iBAHN(TM) is excited to be partnering with Tut Systems to provide the hospitality industry with a secure converged product for data, voice and video that runs over the existing wiring infrastructure in hotels. The T2 product is very easy to install and its remote power capabilities solve the operational and service problems of guests unplugging equipment in the room," said Brett Molen, Chief Technology Officer for iBAHN. "We see demand for these services and have worked with Tut Systems to address these needs."

"Our T2 system demonstrates a cost-effective and easy-to-deploy convergence of multiple services over an existing infrastructure to produce a common broadband solution for a hotel's current and future IP-enabled services," said Greg Ioffe, VP and General Manager, Broadband Transport and Service Management Product Group, Tut Systems. "Both former and new customers in Asia, Europe, and the United States are now planning deployments."
