Music/Technology Focused Bandwidth Conference and Shindig to Take Place in San Francisco in August 2006

SAN FRANCISCO, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Initial details of the Bandwidth Conference and the Bandwidth Shindig have been announced.

The Bandwidth Conference is geared at music and technology professionals and will be held August 18 and 19, 2006 at the Regency Center in San Francisco. The Bandwidth Conference will explore music and technology issues through panels, speakers, and one-on-one interactions. Panel topics include "The 900 Pound Guerilla" which examines traditional versus digital and guerilla marketing, and "Fan.com" which explores technology's influence on the artist/fan relationship.

The Bandwidth Shindig is open to the public and offers an opportunity to explore music and technology, and will take place in venues, stores, and other locations in San Francisco from August 17 to the 20th. The event kicks off with an opening night event that celebrates music technologies of the past such as 8-tracks and vinyl. Other events will include concerts, talks, and music and technology-based exhibits. The Apple Store in downtown San Francisco will feature a series of talks, as well as performances by artists who incorporate iPods into their act. "The Shindig is a chance for people to see new technologies in action," says Toby Suckow, one of the organizers of the event. "They get to experience it for themselves, whether they are listening to a talk on gadgets or watching a band integrate technology into their live show."

The Bandwidth Conference and the Bandwidth Shindig were held once before in 2000, and according to organizer Ashli Lewis, the time seems right for another. "For that weekend, San Francisco will be the music and technology hub of the world," says Ms. Lewis. "We hope to not only provoke stimulating discussions for those within the industries at the Bandwidth Conference, but invite the public and all music lovers to experience and involve themselves with the present and future of music at the Bandwidth Shindig - a bit of learning, a lot of fun."

The Bandwidth Conference is limited to professionals in the music and technology fields, and advance registration is $145. Further information is available on the website at www.bandwidthconference.com. The Bandwidth Shindig is open to the public, with free or varying admissions, and further information can be found at www.bandwidthshindig.com.
