Harris Corporation's NUCLEUS(TM) Control Panel Gaining Significant Worldwide Market Acceptance
Operators Impressed by Control Panel's Unique Features and Flexibility
LAS VEGAS, NAB 2006, April 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) today announced that NUCLEUS(TM), its next-generation, user- configurable, real-time control panel, is gaining significant worldwide market acceptance. The NUCLEUS control panel is designed to centralize the operational control of processing, branding and routing products. Broadcast operations that have chosen the NUCLEUS control panel include CTV Television Inc. in Canada, Hearst-Argyle Television's KCRA-TV and WGAL-TV in the United States, and PLAZAMEDIA GmbH TV & Film Production in Germany.
"The NUCLEUS control panel really gives us the flexibility to manage our router and interface devices the way we need to," said Robert Good, director of engineering at WGAL-TV, NBC-affiliate in Lancaster, Pa. "Integrated with our Harris Platinum(TM) router, we can control all our operations with just a few quick keystrokes. Whenever we detect any issues, we are able to address them as quickly as possible."
Providing user-configured device control interfaces, NUCLEUS(TM) offers real-time control and monitoring of any Leitch CCS(TM) Protocol-enabled device, including the X75(TM) M-PATH multiple-path up/down/cross converter and synchronizer and products within the NEO(TM) and 6800+(TM) platforms. The NUCLEUS control panel is configured with an intuitive drag and drop wizard. It provides more knobs for parameter adjustments, more buttons to quickly invoke parameter value changes and an enhanced display to improve overall operation. Users can quickly store and recall device presets with NUCLEUS(TM) and reset a device to a user-defined "unity" setup. It also offers the capability of tracking other network control panels and generates an on-screen notification if more than one user is connected to the same device.
"The industry response to NUCLEUS(TM) since its introduction at the International Broadcasters Conference in September 2005 has been tremendous," said Tim Thorsteinson, president of the Harris Broadcast Communications Division. "With its operator-focused customization and ability to simultaneously manage both router and processing products, NUCLEUS(TM) has created unprecedented interest in our control products. Every time we demo NUCLEUS(TM), it creates a positive impact -- not a single customer has walked away without being amazed."
