AirPlay and Sprint To Deliver 'AirPlay TV' Mobile Gaming, Live Entertainment Experience to Sprint Customers this Fall

AirPlay to Wed Gaming and Live TV for Sprint Customers starting in September

LAS VEGAS, April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- AirPlay Network, Inc. announced today that it has signed an agreement with Sprint to deliver AirPlay TV, a new entertainment experience that lets viewers utilize select Java-enabled Nextel and Sprint wireless phones as easy-to-use gaming devices for playing along with live television. AirPlay announced, at the opening of the largest global wireless trade show hosted by the Cellular Telephone and Internet Association being held in Las Vegas, that Sprint plans to offer AirPlay TV in conjunction with the start of the new football and network television seasons in September of this year.

"We are very excited to bring the AirPlay experience to consumers with the nation's wireless data leader, Sprint, the company known for embracing and introducing innovation in the wireless world," said Morgan Guenther, CEO of AirPlay. "Watching TV this season is going to be a different experience for Sprint customers -- who, rather than just sit and watch, can now play TV and compete with family, friends or the entire audience."

Building upon the popularity of mobile phone SMS voting for television events, AirPlay provides consumers the capability to play along while they watch. Viewers can choose winners and losers in reality television shows, compete against contestants in game shows and even predict plays while watching live sporting events.

Beginning this fall, in conjunction with the start of the football and network television seasons, Sprint customers will be able to select AirPlay games and set up the service directly from their wireless phone. AirPlay customers will be billed for the service on their existing Sprint bill. The companies plan to announce pricing and handset coverage information for the service later this year.

AirPlay expects to initially offer Sprint customers AirPlay Sports games -- starting with football -- that allow players to make live game and play predictions from their mobile phones. Subsequently, the company will offer Sprint customers the entire AirPlay TV platform, which will include game and award shows, reality TV programming and other categories of real time televised entertainment. In addition, AirPlay and Sprint will work together to offer several exclusive AirPlayTV events for Sprint customers in the coming year.
