Ruckus Entertainment Network Offers Advertisers Connection to Hot College Demographic
HERNDON, Va., March 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Ruckus, the college-only digital entertainment network, announced it is offering advertising space on its site, enabling advertisers to reach college students, one of the hottest advertising demographics today. Ruckus advertisers enable the network to provide partner schools and students with free access to more than 1.5 million digital songs - - the first offering of its kind.
Under a new advertising model, Ruckus offers college students free access to the site and music, providing students on- and off-campus with a way to legally download and share virus-free digital songs, and for an additional low subscription rate, access movies and television shows.
"Free music -- that's a powerful marketing message -- and since we're legit and legal it's a responsible one too," said William J. Raduchel, CEO and chairman of Ruckus.
"College students are among the nation's biggest trendsetters, and a very powerful demographic for our advertisers," said Christian Celic, vice president of Advertising Sales. "According to Harris Interactive, the college market accounted for $231 billion in consumer spending last school year. Ruckus reaches a growing number within this target demographic on a daily basis -- last week alone we increased our user base by 2,000 students."
"Ruckus offers advertisers the ability to leverage video ads, rich media and most standard forms of interactive ad units, but where we differ from many others is our uncanny ability to customize a campaign that can truly meet the demanding needs of our advertisers' objectives," said Celic.
Harris Interactive also noted in late 2005 that there were more college students than ever -- 16.5 million creating the largest college population in the nation's history.
As head of Advertising Sales for Ruckus, Christian is responsible for all advertising sales and advertising operations at Ruckus. Prior to joining Ruckus, Christian managed interactive advertising sales for some of the nation's leading media properties, including: NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, Expedia, MapQuest, Nasdaq.com, Ticketmaster, Zagat, Vibe and Spin to name a few.
Ruckus service enables college students to legally share music, movies and television shows; create playlists; send personal media recommendations to friends; and browse classmates' profiles and media libraries. Students can build their libraries from the Ruckus music collection, thousands of Hollywood movies, and hit TV shows like "Lost" and "Desperate Housewives," which are available through exclusive licensing agreements with the top multimedia distributors nationwide.
