North Carolina A&T And Hearst-Argyle Television News Leadership Symposium Set For May
GREENSBORO, N.C. and NEW YORK, March 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and Hearst-Argyle Television, Inc. have teamed up to create a first of its kind television news management program for graduating seniors.
The program, set to run from May 22-25 will select 25 qualified students graduating from member institutions of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) across the country who are interested in pursuing careers in television news management. The symposium will focus on leadership training and skills development in the areas of producing, writing and decision-making.

The news management program will bring together students, professionals from Hearst-Argyle Television and professors from N.C. A&T.
"We view North Carolina A&T as having one of the premier communication programs in the country," said Dr. Michael A. Plater, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at A&T. "Our partnership with the giants in the industry is one of the major reasons for our success. Collaborating with Hearst-Argyle Television to host the Leadership Symposium will dramatically increase the number of well qualified students entering the industry in the critical areas of producing, writing and decision-making."
Dr. Teresa Styles, a professor in the department of journalism and mass communication added, "This is a wonderful opportunity for a major media organization such as Hearst-Argyle to assist the faculty of N.C. A&T in nurturing and developing the media leaders of the future."
