NEW YORK, March 16 /PRNewswire/ -- mtvU, MTV's 24-hour college network, today announced MTV Networks' biggest multi-platform music video premiere, with the Arctic Monkeys' new "I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor" set to debut Monday, March 20th exclusively on mtvU, mtvU Uber at mtvU.com and mtvU's mobile carrier partners. Through the mtvU broadband channel, the video will also be available on Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition PCs and Media Center Extenders including the Xbox 360. "I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor" will be available on demand on all services by 8 am ET and follow on- air, repeating several times throughout the day. The grand debut marks the first time an MTV Networks channel has exclusively premiered a music video simultaneously on all four platforms.
The Arctic Monkeys have been tearing up the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, recently setting the record for the best opening week in UK history with the release of "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not." The Sheffield, England-based postpunk quartet has garnered widespread critical praise from the New York Times, Spin, Rolling Stone and many others and was recently named to the inaugural mtvU "Freshmen Five." The bi-annual list picks the five emerging artists poised to ride on college students' shoulders to superstardom and this semester also included The Federation, Lady Sovereign, Gym Class Heroes and MF Doom.
In addition to exclusively premiering "I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor," mtvU will also feature the Artic Monkeys on several of its music series in the weeks ahead, including:
-- Uber Live -- In early April, mtvU Uber -- mtvU's all access broadband
channel at mtvU.com -- will exclusively premiere knockout performances
from one of the Arctic Monkeys' renowned live shows. The set will
include high energy renditions of songs from "Whatever People Say I Am,
That's What I'm Not" and illustrate why the group is one of the hottest
buzz bands around.
-- House Band -- A bi-weekly series debuting on Tuesdays, "House Band"
gives "artist in residence" status to acts bubbling on the college
scene. The Arctic Monkeys will be featured on the show in late April,
giving fans a chance to check out exclusive performance footage, video
premieres, interviews and more on mtvU and mtvU Uber.
-- Backstage Pass -- Every Thursday mtvU gives college students the chance
to hear their questions answered by today's hottest emerging artists.
On April 13th, the Arctic Monkeys face the music, sitting down and
responding to questions submitted via mtvU.com.
