About the Artists
Michael Tolcher and his band have been touring endlessly, accompanying Michelle Branch, Maroon 5, Gavin DeGraw, Virginia Coalition, Pat McGee Band, Everclear, The Clarks, Hanson, Howie Day and Sister Hazel. He has gained national exposure through television appearances on Jimmy Kimmel, Last Call with Carson Daly, American Dreams, and morning shows on the WB and CBS.
On its fourth album, "Save Me," the Pat McGee Band comes full circle, returning to the independent music roots of the group's formation almost a decade ago. As one of the nation's hardest-working live acts, playing more than 250 dates, annually, the band has earned a loyal following nationwide, based on musicianship and carefully crafted songs that don't cater to short-lived trends and whims of the marketplace.
WXPN, in Philadelphia, tagged Danielia Cotton as one of their top "artists to watch" in 2005 and slotted the song "It's Only Life" into heavy rotation. Press raves sprouted online and in print, lauding Danielia's "bluesy voice, her soulful guitar work and cover-girl face"; touting her as "the next big thing"; and concluding that "once in a while ... talent outstrips the hype, as in the case of Danielia Cotton." With the arrival of "Small White Town", reviewers will fish for comparisons to such iconic powerhouses as Janis Joplin and Tina Turner.
With five albums to his name, Australian born Ben Lee will be winding down on his major U.S. and Canadian spring tour when he plays in NY. His most recent release, "Awake Is The New Sleep" is Ben Lee's definitive album to date. It reunites him with producer Brad Wood (Liz Phair, Smashing Pumpkins) and was recorded in Brad's home studio in Los Angeles. Ben has been a guest of Conan O'Brien, Jay Leno and David Letterman.
It was early in 2000 that UK radio stations started going mental over Electric Six's "Danger! High Voltage!" single, an insanely catchy piece of sleazy funk rock that may or may not have had The White Stripes' Jack White yelping during the chorus. Since then the Detroit sextet have gone beyond one-hit wonder status with Gay Bar and "Dance Commander." Their second CD, "Senor Smoke," just released in February 2006 in the US, and a third is on taps for fall 2006.
On Ambulance Ltd.'s debut album, one can find a number of stylistic influences from the Beatles and the Stones to Spiritualized, Elliot Smith and the Smiths. And that's the point. The four members of the New York group refuse to be stuck in any sub-genre of rock. To that end, the group draws its inspiration from decades of rock: Motown, '60s psychedelic pop and blues, '70s rock, '80s Britpop/new wave and '90s shoegazing.
Mark Broussard's high octane take-off uses no formula at all. Instead he offers a blend of abilities, styles and enthusiasms uniquely adapted to himself on his debut album, "Carencro". He calls himself "a white boy singing soul music." He is a seasoned veteran of the country's leading music festivals including SXSW, JazzFest and Bonnaroo. Broussard spent the majority of 2003 on the road with such established acts as The Dave Matthews Band, Willie Nelson, Tori Amos, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, O.A.R., Maroon 5, Gavin DeGraw, The Clarks and many more.
From the sleepy sprawl of America's Mile-High City comes The Fray, a Denver-based foursome whose melodic pop-rock songs and soaring vocals resonate with sprawling tapestries and tales of hopefulness and heartache. Formed in 2002, The Fray won "Best New Band" honors from Denver's Westword Magazine and garnered substantial airplay on two of Denver's top rock stations -- the demo version of "Over My Head (Cable Car)" became KTCL's top 30 most played song of 2004 in just 4 months. The band signed to Epic Records in 2004 and will release their debut album "How To Save A Life" this September.
Having weathered a non-stop, whirlwind schedule for the past two years, dynamic British singer, songwriter, and pianist Jamie Cullum could have easily taken some well-earned time off in 2005. The 26-year-old's Verve debut, "Twentysomething," was a worldwide smash last year, selling over two million copies (including nearly 400,000 in the States) and garnering a GRAMMY(R) nomination. But instead of cooling his jets and catching some ZZZs, Jamie kept doing what he loves best: making music, and recording a new album, "Catching Tales."
Van Hunt's self titled debut album made People Magazine's Top Ten Albums of 2004 list. Nominated for a Grammy in 2005 for "Best Urban/Alternative Performance" for his track "Dust!", Hunt has been featured on MTV, BET and named one to watch by Launch.com.
About Bass Pale Ale
Bass Pale Ale is the original English ale and is known the world over for its legendary taste. When it was introduced in 1777, its light color was a welcome alternative to stouts and porters and Pale Ale soon became a style of its own. As Bass Pale Ale's popularity grew, imitators tried to pass off inferior products as Bass by copying the unique red triangle logo. In 1875, concerned for the reputation of their beloved brew, Bass Brewers applied for and were granted England's first registered trademark. Bass Pale Ale's unique combination of refreshment and legendary taste ensured that Bass became a favorite of the drinking class. Napoleon, Manet, Shackleton and Buffalo Bill are just some of the characters who shared a great love for Bass.
