Nicole Kidman to Present Board of Governors Award to Sydney Pollack

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Emily Deschanel, Curtis Hanson, Nicole Kidman, Leonard Maltin, Edward James Olmos and Bill Paxton will headline the cast of presenters at the 20th Annual American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Outstanding Achievement Awards here on Sunday, February 26, at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel.

The organization is presenting special tributes to cinematographer Richard Kline (Lifetime Achievement Award), producer-director Sydney Pollack (Board of Governors Award), cinematographer Gilbert Taylor (International Achievement Award), documentarian Frederick Wiseman (Award of Distinction), and cinematographer-educator Woody Omens (Presidents Award).

Cinematographers are vying for Outstanding Achievement Awards in three categories:

* Feature Film: Dion Beebe, ASC, ACS (MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA); Robert Elswit,
ASC (GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK); Andrew Lesnie, ASC, ACS (KING KONG);
Wally Pfister, ASC (BATMAN BEGINS); and Rodrigo Prieto, ASC, AMC
(BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN).

* Television Movie/Mini/Pilot: Alan Caso, ASC (INTO THE WEST/"Wheel to the
Stars"); Thomas A. Del Ruth, ASC (CODE BREAKERS); Robbie Greenberg, ASC
(WARM SPRINGS); Jan Kiesser, ASC, CSC (REEFER MADNESS); and Bill Roe,
ASC (FAITH OF MY FATHERS).

* Episodic Television: John Aronson ("Freefall"/WITHOUT A TRACE); Nathan
Hope ("Who Shot Sherlock?"/CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION); Jeffrey Jur,
ASC ("Los Moscos"/CARNIVALE); John C. Newby, ASC ("Everything Old is You
Again"/LAS VEGAS); and Glen Winter, CSC ("Sacred"/SMALLVILLE).

The first ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards were held in 1987 for the purpose of recognizing and inspiring artistic achievement in cinematography. ASC was chartered in 1919. There are currently some 290 members from many countries around the world, and another 145 associates in allied fields.
