WASHINGTON, Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) today announced the selection of 24 leading broadband experts to write the 2006 NCTA Technical Papers(TM) and to take part in the technical sessions at The National Show, NCTA's 55th Annual Convention and International Exposition, April 9-11 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
The authors will present their papers as part of five technical sessions on topics including Advanced Network Architecture, National Scale Networking, "Individual Consumption" through Switched Digital Video Networks, and Next Generation Network Architecture.
"The opportunities offered by broadband networking are immense, and have emerged a primary focus of this year's technical program," said Dan Pike, Chief Technical Officer, GCI Cable, Inc. and chair of this year's selection committee. "We are very excited about the caliber of this year's participants, and expect the technical sessions to be of exceptional value to the broadband industry."
The NCTA Technical Papers(TM) is an extensive collection of published works by the industry's most distinguished technical authors and has served as the cable industry's technical body of literature for the past 46 years. The 2006 edition offers the latest thinking on next generation network developments and sets the topical agenda for the National Show technical sessions where each of the 24 authors will present 15-20 minute summaries of their work.
"The rapid advances in broadband technology make both the Technical Program and the Technical Papers a must for the cable engineering community. The papers to be presented this year represent ideas that will help support the cable industry for years to come," said William Check, NCTA's Senior Vice President, Science & Technology.
Convention attendees may purchase the 2006 NCTA Technical Papers(TM) in book or CD-ROM format at the special show price of $50.00; after the show, the books and CD-ROMs will cost $75.
