Verhofstadt Tells Bloomberg TV: United Front Against Iran Needed

NEW YORK, Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- In an interview this morning, Belgian Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt told Bloomberg Television(R) that the U.S. and Europe need to persuade Russia and China to present a united front against Iran's nuclear program.

The world's major powers must "stick together," Verhofstadt told Bloomberg's Deirdre Bolton at the Bloomberg Television studio in New York. "It's absolutely necessary that Americans, Europeans and also China and Russia have the same position on Iran because that's the best way to increase pressure on them," Verhofstadt told Bloomberg TV.

In wrapping up his U.S. trip to meet President George W. Bush and court American investors, Verhofstadt told Bloomberg TV that trans-Atlantic ties are "better now than two years ago when the war started in Iraq."
